Beauty and the Bike has been made possible thanks to funding from a wide range of bodies, as well as the immeasurable free time and good will of members of Darlington Media Group, Medienwerkstatt Schlachthof, and the many friends in both Darlington and Bremen who are helping with the project.

Thanks to Local Motion, who have had such faith in the project from its early days, when others failed to sense the wider implications of the work. Through Local Motion, we have received support from the EU Interreg fund Boosting Advanced Public Transport Systems.

Funding for the young peoples’  Velodarlo Bike Pool, and for the exchanges between the Bremen and Darlington girls, has generously been provided by the European Commission’s Youth in Action fund, managed in the UK by the British Council as Connect Youth. Younger participants have been supported by The Dosh.

The project launch in Bremen, scheduled for late 2009, is being supported by the Heinrich Böll Stiftung, whilst the lauch of Velodarlo on Valentine’s Day 2009 received generous help from Legg’s Womenswear in Skinnergate, Darlington.
